Enrichment

At Serlby Park Academy, we strongly believe that taking learning outside of the classroom broadens and enhances pupils’ learning. Because of this, we offer our children a range of trips and experiences linked to our curriculum. We ensure that children have taken part in a range of high-quality experiences throughout their time at in the primary setting.  We work closely with the secondary team to ensure the primary experiences are built upon as the pupils move through the school.

Our curriculum is designed to extend beyond the academic; it is designed for our community and wider society. We want our pupils to experience a wide range of opportunities in our ever-changing world. We focus on developing pupils’ moral, spiritual, social and cultural understanding so that they are well-prepared for life in modern Britain. We aim to introduce them to a wide breadth of opportunities to enable them to make informed choices about their future careers. We ensure that during their time at Serlby Park Academy, children are offered a variety of enrichment opportunities. Our academy provides an inclusive environment where all learners enjoy their education. We plan our curriculum and learning opportunities, so all pupils have access to a broad and balanced curriculum.

Nursery Visit to White Post Farm

Nursery went to White Post Farm for their farm topic. The children fed the animals in the fields, held small animals and even got to touch a snake! They had such a lovely time.

Y1 Visit to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park

The children enjoyed looking at the animals, learning about their habitats and getting to hold a few as well! It linked wonderfully to their African topic.

Y2 enjoyed a visit to the Danum gallery and took part in a Victorian workshop. The children had lots of fun exploring the museum and listening to poems in the library. They all loved having lunch at the side of a steam train!

Y3 Visit to The National Mining Museum

Year 3 visited the National Mining Museum and had a wonderful time.

Y4 Magna Science Museum and The Chocolate Story

The children in Year 4 we visited Magna and The Chocolate Story in York. The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring the different elements in Magna – especially the water zone! The chocolate story in York was fabulous too – they learnt all about the origins of chocolate and even got to make a lolly.
